Born on the 24th of February 1962, David’s interest in hunting and conservation was developed by his father from a young age. After completing his military service he studied for his National Diploma: Nature Conservation, following which he worked as a District Nature Conservator in the Ellisras/Tolwe area. In 1988 he qualified as a professional hunter and outfitter. He hunted full time till 1994 after which he accepted a position as Assistant Director: Professional hunting and Policy with the Mpumalanga Parks board in Nelspruit. He then continued his studies and obtained a B-Tech degree in Veld and Game management at the Pretoria Technikon. During his employment at the Parks Board he obtained extensive experience doing dangerous big game problem animal control, particularly on buffalo and elephant that broke out of the Kruger National Park. In 2001 he left the Parks board to start a training academy for professional hunters. Due to David’s extensive knowledge, experience and exceptional teaching skills the Academy is widely regarded as the best of it’s kind in SA.
In addition to this the Academy will be presenting the first nationally accredited Dangerous Game Professional hunting course in S.A. during which elephant and buffalo will be hunted. David currently resides on his farm in the Vaalwater area.
